The Lady Tiger softball team has developed new skills and coaches to further develop the team’s inorder to see growth from last year's season. Since last season, the Tigers have welcomed a new coach to their staff: James Cotton. Brittany Sehnke is the current head coach, being promoted from assistant varsity coach. The team’s 2022-2023 season ended with a 2-11 overall record with a 1-7 region record. Valuable Players from last year's season includes, but are not limited to: Zoe Miller, Lauren Sehnke, Symone George, and Makayla Gadson. Following, two former JV players have been brought up to play with varsity: Kallie Jordan, a middle infielder and left fielder, and Elon Mack, an ultimate utility player. 

The dynamic of Wilson softball has grown tremendously since 2023. Head Coach Brittany Sehnke has been enforcing rules and expectations among the players to ensure a more disciplined team, contrary to last season. She says, ¨We had a scrimmage last week and that was the first time I have witnessed this program push through and not give up on themselves or their teammates.¨ This new culture on their field has changed the relationship from player to coach, and teammate to teammate. In Coach Brittanys eyes, leadership amongst players has been inconsistent. Makayla Gadson has been stepping up to the leadership role and there are high hopes for her to maintain this role throughout this season. She states, ¨The role means to always try to stay up and don't let what mistakes happen affect me because it may transfer to my teammates.¨ She has high hopes for this season with the belief that the Lady Tigers will come back stronger than last year. 

South Florence and West Florence will challenge the Tigers the most this year. With new coaches on staff, Wilson will be able to strategize against these teams and capitalize on their faults.
