Meet Wilson High Schools (2023-2024) Varsity basketball team. This team is led by head coach, Frank Williams, and head assistant coach, Alvida Smith. This years team consists of 9 total players. Each and everyone of these players are hardworking and dedicated to the game. They hope to dominate all teams that the come across, and defeat each obstacle that may come in their way! The Tigers Defeat The Trojans
On 02/16/24, The Lady Tigers faced the James Island Trojans in the third round of playoffs. By halftime, the Lady Tigers managed to have over a 20 point lead. But James Island had other plans. As the second half began, The Trojans felt that they had to make a change. The tension in the gym was palpable. The lead that the Lady Tigers had created began to decrease just as the time on the clock decreased.

Due to The Trojans being able to increase their points in the second half of the game, the fans were on the edge of their seats. Knowing that James Island defeated The Lady Tigers in the second round of playoffs in the previous season, they knew that had to fight back even stronger. By the end of the game, the Lady Tigers managed to have the lead by 2 points, ending the game with a score of 41-43
With this win, Wilson’s Lady Tigers now have a record of 19-6, while the James Island Trojans have a record of 19-8. The Lady Tigers will be advancing to the third round of playoffs on Tuesday, 02/19/24 at 6:30, where they will face AC Flora.
AC Flora Knocks The Lady Tigers Out Of The Playoffs
On 02/19/24, the Wilson Lady Tigers' basketball season came to a close with a 37-50 loss to AC Flora. The game, filled with anticipation & energy, saw the Lady Tigers holding a slim lead by just one point as halftime approached. Hopes were high, and the prospect of victory seemed within reach.

On 02/19/24, the Wilson Lady Tigers' basketball season came to a close with a 37-50 loss to AC Flora. The game, filled with anticipation & energy, saw the Lady Tigers holding a slim lead by just one point as halftime approached. Hopes were high, and the prospect of victory seemed within reach.
However, the second half unfolded with unexpected challenges as AC Flora stepped up their game. Despite their star player, Terriana Gray, scoring a season-low of just 9 points, well below her average of 17.8, AC Flora's effort proved too much for Wilson.
In this game, Logan Murray led the team with 12 points. Yet, the night belonged to AC Flora, who outscored the Lady Tigers, bringing an end to their season.
As the final buzzer sounded, the scoreboard read 37-50, a bittersweet moment for the Lady Tigers. They may have lost the game, but this is only an indicator for a great year next year. This season was much better than their last season; The Lady Tigers advanced further than last year making it to the third round of playoffs. And not to mention, they are also your (2023-2024) regions champions! Next year, the Lady Tigers are looking forward to an even better season.

The Clash Of Determination
The Lady Tigers are gearing up to face James Island tonight, and the stakes are high. Last year was a heart-breaker where James Island knocked them out of the second round of playoffs with a 69-54 win. With that being said, payback from the Lady Tigers is in the making. Wilson currently is on a 12 home game winning streak with a record of 18-6, while the Trojans have a record of 19-7. The victory between the two teams will all come down to determination. Will the Lady Tigers continue their winning or streak?, or will The Trojans knock them off of it?
At practice, the team has been working hard on their game plan, focusing on the key elements that their coach believes will bring home the victory including communication, ball sharing, and defense. Taking away James Islands two key players, Andrea Duncan, and Alaina Graf will be an important factor. Duncan averages 21.8 points per game, whereas Graf averages 9.2 points per game.
Wilson's Lady Tigers team is ready to show James Island that this year, they're back stronger and better than ever. With their determination and mindset, they are sure to advance to the next round of playoffs.

On Tuesday, February 13, the Lady Tigers took another win against the May River Sharks. The Tigers are currently still on a 12 home game winning streak, having an overall record of 18-6, while the Lady Sharks have an overall record of 16-10. In the game against the Sharks, the Lady Tigers managed to finish the game with a score of 65-12.
From the very start, the Lady Tigers showcased their teamwork and communication skills. Their ability to effectively communicate on the court allowed for coordination and quick decision-making. This approach played a pivotal role in gaining an early advantage over May River. Defense proved to be one of the key things of the Lady Tigers' success. The Lady Tigers' being able to rebound and get steals from May River created numerous turnovers and allowed them to regain possession of the ball, further advancing their dominance. Being unselfish with the ball was another key factor for this teams success.
By the time halftime arrived, the Lady Tigers had already established lead, thanks to their communication, defense, and selfless ball sharing. The second half only saw their dominance continue, as they maintained their intensity and executed their game plan.
The player of this game was Logan Murray, with 19 points. Following behind Logan came Leanissa Swinton with 16 points, Ariana Johnson with 10, Sharetta Jones with 8, Leah Spears (5), Zoey Miller (5), and Jordan Nelson (2).

Coach Frank emphasizes the importance of communication and accurate shooting as the team's main strategies for tonight's game. Leading the charge for the Tigers are standout players Logan Murray, Zoey Miller, and Leah Spears; each averaging more than ten points per game. The Lady Tigers Become The Region Champs
Introducing the (2023-2024) 4A region 6 Champs: The Lady Tigers! Last night, on February 6th, the Wilson Tigers regained their rightful placing as first in the region following a crucial victory against the the Hartsville Red Foxes (51-48). Previously, the Tigers took a tough loss against the Foxes, losing 49-54. However, for last night’s game, they rebounded as a stronger, more united team.
The Lady Tigers took notes from their previous game against Hartsville, taking away two of the Foxes’ crucial players: Jasmine Frierson and Tatiana Fisher, which led to a hard fought victory. Wilson currently dominates with an eleven home game winning streak, hoping to continue it throughout the playoffs. With the Lady Tigers winning region, Wilson can celebrate an accomplishment the varsity basketball team has not accomplished in years.
The Tigers' win came down to the help of the coaching staff, sharing of the ball, and as always, defense. The game was led by Logan Murray with 17 points and Ariana Johnson with 14 points. Along with other scorers and contributions, these two helped to bring on this win.
Coach Williams and his team are determined to make a statement in the faces of any team that they will encounter with on the way to the State Championship, which is their ultimate goal.
Winning this game was something special to Wilson. With the team's strong mindset and “Sisterhood", the Lady Tigers are unstoppable in continuing their streak.

All Grind, No Stop
The Lady Tigers are ready to face the Lady Foxes again this Tuesday in the Tiger Den at 6:00 pm. They have officially taken a spot in the playoffs, playing their last regional game tonight. Currently, the Tigers run a 16-6 with a region record of 8-1. The Foxes are dominating the court with a 20-6 while sharing a region record of 8-1. At the moment, Wilson is second in the region; not too far away from Hartsville.
The Lady Tigers are neck to neck with the Lady Foxes, promising an exciting match. Wilson’s Tigers continue to be led by their star players: Logan Miller averaging 13.2 points, Zoey Mill (10.6), and Leah Spears (10.2). All three girls have determination and what it takes to win a ball game. Hartsville’s Red Foxes bring a challenge with Jazzy Frierson averaging 15.9 points, Brook Mitchell averaging 10.5 and Tatiana Fisher averaging 10.3 points per game. The Lady Tigers have to make sure the defense is executed perfectly tonight to wipe out Jazzy Frierson. Previously, in the last matchup between the Tigers and Foxes, Hartsville took down the Tigers by a 5-point difference.
Tonight’s game guarantees an intense experience. Phenomenal ball handling, choke point defense, and an uncountable number of baskets are to be expected.

This past Tuesday, January 30th, The Lady Tigers had another great victory against the Lady Knights. West fans were left flabbergasted as the Tigers dominated with a 62-28 score. With a clean sweep, Wilson’s Tigers have a clear road towards the State Championship.
Logan Murray (20 points) and Zoey Miller (14 points) led the Lady Tigers to victory. In the first quarter, Wilson was up 12 points while West was falling behind with 7. Going into the second quarter, both teams were able to score 9 points, bringing the scores at halftime to 21-16. Pushing into the second half, the Tigers were able to burst ahead with 21 added points, leaving the Knights to only gain 10. Finishing in the final play, the Lady Tigers dominated the Knights. They added an additional 20 while the opposing team was only able to score a meekly 2. The final score was 62 from your Lady Tigers and 28 from your Lady Knights.

This Tuesday, February 2nd, the Lady Tigers will be in contact with the Myrtle Beach Seahawks once again. Previously, the Lady Tigers defeated Myrtle beach, ending the game with a 20 point lead (38-58). Wilson’s Leanissa Swinton and Logan Murray were the players of this game with 12 points each. Myrtle Beach currently has a 2-6 record, placing them 5th in the region, while the Lady Tigers have a region record of 7-1, placing second in region.
After another victory against the West Florence Knights on January 30th , the Lady Tigers are looking to continue their winning streak to come a step closer to regaining the first place title. Defense, as usual, will hold a very crucial role for the Lady Tigers, and, with this mentality, the Lady Tigers are sure to achieve their goal.

On Friday, 01/27/24, The Lady Tigers pulled off another hard fought win against the South Florence Bruins, in a game that filled the crowd with intensity. With the scores going back and forth between the two teams, it was a game that stretched into overtime. Ariana Johnson and Zoey Miller both had 17 points each sharing the title of the players of the game. Zoey Miller hit a crucial three pointer which helped to pave the way a little more for the Lady Tigers. However, the Bruins weren't going down without a fight, evening the score and pushing the game into overtime.
For the Lady Tigers, Zoey Miller and Ariana Johnson both had 17 points, Leah Spears had 11, and Logan Murray had 9 points. The South Florence Bruins were led by Jada Montgomery and Krystal Baker with 16 points each, Madison Randoph with 9, and Amari Gamble with 5 points.
The intensity was through the roof, making it the most intense, greatest win of the Lady Tigers' season so far. The crowd's energy was present in this game between the Bruins and the Tigers. This significant win led to a three game winning streak for the tigers. They remain in second place for now, and have a region record of 6-1.
Next up, the Lady Tigers will face the West Florence Knights again on Tuesday, January 30th. Previously, they defeated the knights with a score of 66-19. Catch them back in action for another game into the books!

Round Two Against The West Florence Knights
This Tuesday, January 30th, the Lady Tigers will face the Lady Knights once again. Currently, the Tigers are 14-6 with a record of 6-1 in region while the Knights are 3-15 with a record of 0-7 in region. Wilson is swimming in a phenomenal season , being second in the region and holding a three week game streak. On the contrary, West Florence drowns in last place, boasting only three wins.
Currently, both teams are pleased to have no injuries amongst their players. The Lady Tigers hang onto hope, previously beating the South Florence Bruins 37-33. Tiger Fans can expect a win while focusing on key players such as: Logan Murray, Leah Spears and Lenissa Swinton. All three young ladies are bucket snatchers, ruthlessly preventing competition get in their way. In order to win, Wilson will need to prioritize communication and defense. Last time these two teams faced, the Lady Tigers blew the Knights out 66-19. The leading scores were Leah Spears (20 points), Logan Murray (16 points), and Zoey Miller (10 points ). These Lady Tigers strictly held the Knights to a 47 game point lead. A key player from the Knights that takes the spotlight is Gabrielle Gunter who averages 8.7 points per game.

This upcoming Friday, January 26th, the Lady Tigers will face the Lady Bruins once again. The Wilson Tigers are up 13-6 while the Lady Bruins are down at 9-8. The Tigers continue to prove themselves above the competition, ranking second in the region. Meanwhile, the Bruins sit comfortably at fourth, but it may not be enough to take down the Tigers.
The Lady Tigers are dominating the court, cherishing a two week win streak. Several players are leading the torch, including: Logan Murray averaging 13.0 points per game, Zoey Miller averaging 10.7, and Leah Spears averaging 10.5. On the other end, the Bruins have Jada Montogomery who averages 15.3 points per game, making her their greatest weapon. To counter Jada and the other Bruins, the Tigers will need to focus on defense and coordination.
For the game, fans should expect a loud, up on your feet experience. It will be intense and a gateway for the Lady Tigers towards the playoff

Introducing #10 from the Lady Tigers basketball team, Jordan Nelson, who was born in Charleston, South Carolina. Jordan recently transferred to Wilson high to become a part of the Tiger community. On the team, she plays the position of a power forward. With Jordan transferring to Wilson, she quickly adapted and fit in as if she always attended school here.
Jordan's favorite color is yellow. Outside of basketball, which is her favorite sport, Jordan enjoys drawing and cooking, in which she does in her free time. She can be described to be as funny, up lifting, and very straight forward. Jaguars are her favorite types of animals. When it comes to school, Jordan is a scholar student. She loves to study science the most. Referring to inspiration, Jordan finds her greatest inspiration from her mom, who she loves the most.
After the completion of high school, she plans to go to college, get a degree in business, and sports medicine.

On Tuesday, January 23rd, the Lady Tigers will face North Myrtle Beach again at Wilson High School. Key players for the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs are Madison Vereen and Faith Farmer. As we know, the last time Wilson came in contact with North Myrtle, The Lady Tigers defeated them with a score of 49-43.But will the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs get their revenge in this match up? The last game wasn’t an easy win for the Tigers, however, the Lady Tigers came together as one to get this win as they usually do. The Lady Tigers are looking forward to getting back on their winning streak after their recent loss against the Hartsville Red Foxes last Friday.
This game the Lady Tigers are looking to a strong start and finish to secure their second placing in the region. Looking into their upcoming game against each other, this game should be a battle on who wants this win and second place the most. Catch these two teams in action on Tuesday, January 23rd.

On Friday, January 19th, The Lady Tigers faced their first region loss against the Hartsville Red Foxes (49-54); ultimately falling short and slipping to third in their region. Despite where the tigers had the lead a few times, the Red Foxes regained the lead and secured their win.
The top three scorers for this game were Leah Spears, Leannissa Swinton, and Logan Murray. Leah Spears, the player of this game, put up 18 points, six steals, and five rebounds for this game. Alongside Spears, Leannisa Swinton had 9 points and 14 rebounds, & Logan Murray contributed with 10 points & 10 rebounds.
For the Hartsville Red Foxes, Jasmine Frieson, wearing jersey #0, was a player to watch. Knowing this, taking Friersron away wasn’t really a problem for them. The Tigers' strategy to limit her impact on the game paid off, holding her to just 10 points, below her average of 14.8 points per game. Tatiana Fisher, another significant player for Hartsville, managed to put up 16 points. Fisher's placing in the post area was recognized as an area for the Tigers to work on to minimize her contribution.
The Lady Tigers noted that leaving opponents open in the back court, and turnovers offered up scoring chances for the Red Foxes. The intensity of the game was very much present! The Tigers are determined to come back stronger and more focused in their next encounter with Hartsville; to most importantly, get their revenge.
With their sights set on reclaiming the top spot in the region, the Lady Tigers look forward to their upcoming game against North Myrtle Beach on Tuesday. In their last game against North Myrtle Beach, the ended the game with a score of 52-54. The Lady Tigers team is focused on preparation, knowing that it's the key to success. On January 17th, the Lady tigers gained another win over the Myrtle Beach Seahawks. The Wilson Tigers set the tone early, ending the first quarter with a lead of 20-8. They maintained their momentum into the second quarter, finishing with a 10 point advantage at 28-18.
As the game progressed, Wilson continued to dominate, extending their lead to 43-24 by the end of the third quarter. The final quarter sealed the win with a score of 58-38. The players of this game were Leannissia Swinton and Logan Murray, each with 12 points. Other scores for this game include: Leah Spears and Zoey Miller with 10 points, Ariana Johnson with 8, Jordan Nelson with 4, and Gabby White with 2.
The Myrtle Beach Seahawks, with a region record of 1-3, now find themselves in 5th place within the region. A key factor in Wilson's win was their defense, which played a crucial role throughout the game.
Looking into going into their next game against the Harstville Red Foxes on January 19th, 2024, the Lady Tigers are looking forward to staying placed as number 1 in their region. With their continuous determination, defensive and offensive plays, they are sure to accomplish their goal.

This Wednesday, January 17th, the Lady Tigers will face the Myrtle Beach Seahawks here at the Tiger den. Our Lady Tigers holds a three game winning streak with a record of 11-4, while the Lady Seahawks holds a record of 7-8. Your lady tigers are, doing great in their season. They are currently 3-in in the region and are looking forward to being 10-0. The lady Seahawks are having an okay season with a record of 7-7 overall and 1-2 in the region.The lady tigers are on a winning streak of three looking to be four. One of the key players Leah spears, has been the leading score for the past two weeks averaging 18-19 points a game.
The Lady Seahawks are currently on a losing streak of two. Lucky, both teams have no injured players, which means this is going to be a great game. Looking forward to tonight's game, the Lady Tigers are going to dominate. This will be the Lady Tigers and the Myrtle Beach Seahawks first time playing so this would be a great game.

This Friday, January 19th, the Lady Tigers will face the Hartsville Red Foxes. Currently Wilson is holding a record of 11-4, while Hartsville is holding a record of 14-6. This will be a good and intense match up between the two.
Your Lady Tigers are having a wonderful season, currently having a four game winning streak. They are still undefeated in the region carrying the record of 4-0. Some key players to watch from the Lady Tigers are Logan Murray averaging 12.9 points a game, Leah Spears averaging 10.1 and Zoey miller averaging 9.9 point a game. Some key players from the Lady red Foxes are Jazzy Frierson averaging 15.1 points, Tatiana fisher averaging 9.6 points a game. currently nobody on Wilson or Hartsville is injured. This will be the first match up between the two, so you know it's going to be a good game. This game will have you out of your seats and on your feet according to coach Frank, defense is the key to the game. In a present display of teamwork and strategy, the Lady Tigers got another win over the West Florence Knights with a score of 66-19. This win launched the Lady Tigers back to the top of the region, with a record of 3-0 while the Lady Knights are now facing a challenging season ahead with a 0-3 regional record.
The Lady Tigers success can be attributed to their sharing of the ball and their tight defense. Their approach to shutting down the Lady Knights scorers were pretty constant to ensure that they were unable to find their rhythm. By communicating effectively on defense and keeping their opponents in check, the Lady Tigers held their defensive strategies, setting the standard for the region.
This win was more than just a win; it's a statement. The Lady Tigers have shown that they are not only contenders, but the team to beat. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on them to maintain their lead and continue their journey to what could be their best season yet! Road To The Chip
This weekend, the Lady Tigers played two games; one on the 20th and another on the 21st, against 1 of 1 prep, and Lab Univ. Despite a loss in the first game, they showed effort which led them to a great start. The Lady Tigers bounced back the next day and took on a win against their next opponent Lab University.
In the first game, the Tigers were going head-to-head with 1 of 1 Academy. Despite their resilience, they fell short with a score of 72-50 to a dominating team who boast a 20-7 record. Even with a defeat, though, the Tigers came in 2nd for their conference. Logan Murray was the MVP for this game, dropping 16 points for 1 of 1 Prep.
Shaking off the loss, the Lady Tigers came back into action on Sunday, lighting up the scoreboard with a 62-30 victory over Lab University. On Tuesday, January 23rd, the Lady Tigers came back from their recent loss against the Hartsville Red Foxes, to secure a hard-fought win against the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs. Despite a shaky start that saw them trailing by 12 points and committing an unusual number of turnovers, the Lady Tigers showed their determination for a needed comeback. The Lady Tigers currently have an overall record of 13-6, and a 5-1 region record, while North Myrtle Beach has a region record of 4-2, placing them in third place. This win bumped the Lady Tigers up to 2nd place in their region, inching a step closer to being back in the top number 1 spot.
The leading scorers for this game was Leah Spears with 15 points, Logan Murray with 12, and Leanissa Swinton with 7. All players of this team contributed to this hard win. North Myrtle Beach's Madison Vereen and Faith Farmer led their team with 14 points each. Their performance, although on the losing side, was valuable for their team.
As the Lady Tigers continue their journey through the season, this game will stand out as a statement to their ability to overcome obstacles, and come together as a team when it matters most. The road ahead is promising, and this game was an indication of this.

On Friday, January 12th, the Lady Tigers will play against the West Florence Knights here at the Tiger den. Your Lady Tigers are feeling great after the win against the South Florence Bruins and are ready to take down the Knasty Knights. The Lady Tigers are currently 9-4, while the Knights are 2-10. The lady Tigers are going to continue to work on skills such as communication and hard defense. As Coach Frank says, "Defense wins ball games", and that's the strategy for this week's game. The leading point scorers for the Knights are Gabrielle Gunter averaging 8.6 points a game, Kendrina Johnson averaging 5.4 points a game and Kaylin Davis averaging 4.9 points a game.

"The bear has been poked!" Last night on Wednesday January 10th, the Lady Tigers managed to work their way into victory against the South Florence Lady Bruins. Winning this game meant something special to the team knowing that they lost to this team in last year's season.
The game was all about teamwork and most importantly, defense. Leah Spears was the leading scorer for this game with 17 points, Ariana Johnson with 6, Logan Murray (6), Sharetta Jones (4), and Leanissa Swinton (3).
The first half of the game saw the Lady Tigers struggling with their layups, but they found their rhythm by the end of the game. Despite trailing 18-20 at halftime, they never lost their spirit. With the Lady Tigers being down two points, they knew that something had to change; such as taking away the Bruins best players, making layups, getting steals, and getting shots. With the Lady Tigers doing this, they were sure to eventually come back and win the game.
The Lady Tigers plan to carry this momentum into their next game, aiming to play up to their full capability for an even better win. Their resilience was evident as they continued to play as a team, even when they were down by a few points.

Introducing #5 from the Lady Tigers basketball team, Ashley Charles. She was born here in Florence, South Carolina on November 15th. When it comes to colors, yellow is what Ashley loves the most.Ashley is a freshman here at Wilson. This is her first year of participating on the varsity girls basketball team. Ashley is a hardworking dedicated player. Every practice, she does her best at going hard. Due to an concussion, Ashley is currently sitting out, but will soon bounce back better than ever.
Outside of basketball, Ashley enjoys fishing, hunting, and playing softball. Her inspirations that she looks up to are Loyal McQueen, and the late Kobe Bryant (both basketball players). Loyal McQueen was a student here at Wilson High School, but is now graduated. Loyal is now a student athlete at Alabama University where she has taken her basketball profession. Moving back to Ashley, out of all colors, Ashley enjoys the color yellow the most.
Ashley Charles feels as though this school year is going great so far. She hopes to advance as far as possible in basketball along with her teammates to accomplish their number 1 goal, which is to win the state championship. With Ashley's hard work in basketball, expectations are set high for her.

On Friday, January 5th, the Lady Tigers defeated their first region opponent against the North Myrtle Beach Chiefs. Although the Lady Tigers emerged a victory, it was not an easy win. The scores kept swinging back and forth, creating an intense atmosphere. But you know what they say, it's not about the score, it's about the heart and determination of the players! They finished the game with a total 25 steals, and 9 assists, leading to a score of 54-52. Even though this was not an easy game to win, the Tigers never gave up; they came together as one to bring home their win.
Leading the points on the scoreboard were Leanissa Swinton with 13 points, followed closely by Zoey Miller with 12 points and Leah Spears with 10 points. But the contributions didn't stop there. Logan Murray (9), Ariana Johnson (6) , Sharetta Jones (2), and Gabby White (2), all made valuable contributions to the team's success, adding to the overall score. With just a couple of minutes left in the fourth quarter, the Lady Tigers found themselves trailing by a few points. The tension was visible. But in a true moment of determination, Logan Murray stepped up and came through with the game-winning shot. And not just any shot, it was an "and one" shot!
This is the Lady Tigers first official step to getting to their goal. They've defeated their first region opponent and are looking forward to doing the same thing for the rest of their games. You can catch them back in action on Tuesday, January 9th against South Florence High School.

Meet our very own, Leanissa Swinton, aka Lele. Lele is currently in 11th here at Wilson High School. Her position on the Lady Tiger Basketball team is power forward. Lele was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina, but was raised here in Florence, SC. She has 3 siblings, 2 sisters and one brother, which are all older than her making her the youngest out of the bunch.
When asked does she have any pets, 2 dogs , 3 parakeets, and the most interesting one is her pet duck named, Mateo. Leanissa is a multi-sport athlete, playing basketball, volleyball, and running track. Lele maybe looking forward to golf, stay tuned for that. She states that her favorite college team right now is Alabama because it's so many Wilson alumni that attends there, but South Carolina will always be her first forever choice.
When asked what other positions she would be willing to play, she informed us, point guard. She continues to say how she feel as if the point guard is the main show and that's something easy to her to full fill. Lele feels as if she's the life of the group, and is willing to make anybody laugh. When asked what was the best game she ever been to, she implied the Coker College tournament was a great game , but the best game she ever been to was the South Carolina game two years ago.
Some of her hobbies outside of playing sports is reading, watching movies and sleeping. Lele tells us, when she is older she would like to be a veterinarian. She emphasis that she loves animals, and would like to help the animals in any way. When asked, do you have any colleges in mind, she stated that she doesn't really have any colleges in mind. Her mindset is more to have colleges look at her to see what she can bring to the table and what she has to offer to basketball. She states how she wants to play basketball in college, but if she gets a scholarship in volleyball, then that's what she will do. She exclaims how she would really like to play basketball in college because that's the sport that has her heart. Lele feels as if her brother is her biggest inspirations. She tells us how he always wants to know about her games and how he motivates her about basketball and is one of the reasons why she loves the sport now.

On Saturday, December 9th, the Lady Tigers took on Keenan High School. Keenan High School is a school located in Columbia, South Carolina. Since Keenan High took a loss against the Lady Tigers on Saturday, they now have a record of 4-2. The scorers for this game was Logan Murray with 18 points, Zoey Miller with a total of 17 points, Leanissa Swinton with 13 points, and Gabby white with 3 points. Alongside these players, Ariana Johnson had 7 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 steal, Sharetta Jones with 2 assists, 6 rebounds and 1 steal, Jamariah Johnson with 1 rebound, and Ashley Charles with 1 assist. With Keenan having a 4-2 record for their games, the intensity levels of this game for both the Lady Tigers & Keenan high school were very high.
In the first half, Wilson managed to secure a small lead with the score landing at 22-23. However, the Lady Tigers had bigger plans for the game. As the second half began, Wilson's players were determined to make a statement. They tried to unleash their full potential, pushing their offensive game to higher standards. With the help of teamwork, and of course, Sisterhood, they started building up their points.
As the game progressed the Lady Tigers refused to let Keenan take the lead again. Even though it seemed like Keenan had a chance to turn the game around, Wilson quickly regained control, dominating the court. In the end, the Lady Tigers ended the game scoring a total of 51 points, & Keenan scored 42.
Pre Game Article: Lady Tigers vs. Darlington High School
The Lady Tigers are ready to take on Darlington High School, located at Darlington High school. During the lady tigers practice, they went over their plays and positions to ensure that everyone could improve from their mistakes from the last game on 12/6 against Loris High School.
Welcome back! This Friday the Lady Tigers will play the Lady Falcons at Darlington High School. After the loss against the Lady Raiders, the mighty tigers are ready to face their next challenge. Currently, the Lady Tigers record is 1-1, ready to become 2-1. The starting lineup for the Tiger’s Basketball this Friday is Zoey Miller, Logan Murray, Sharetta Jones, Leanissa Swinton, Ariana Johnson. Head coach Frank Williams says his game plan for Friday night is to have a different mindset. He says no matter what, they will have to stay focused on the game. The best advice he gave is that defense wins ball games. Williams states that for them to come out and win, the Tigers have to come out and hit first. He tells us how they’re young just like us, but it comes down to who ever wants it bad. The Darlington Falcons are currently 4-2. They recently took on Central High School with a score of (65-18). Darlington is one of Wilson's biggest rival schools, so when it comes to sports, this game should be a very interesting and intense game to watch! Catch them on the court at 6:00 pm, December 8th.

On December 6th, the Lady Tigers fell short (35-59), against Richmond High School. Leading scorer for this game was Zoey Miller with 10 points. Following behind Zoey was Logan Murray (9), Leanissa Swinton (5), Ariana Johnson (5), Sharetta Jones (4), and Jamariah Johnson (2).
Although every game has its challenges, it seems like the Lady Tigers encountered a few areas where they struggled. Leaving the back side open can create opportunities for the opposing team to score, and turnovers were in terms of losing possession of the ball. Additionally, dropping into the help zone for defense is crucial to protect the paint and prevent easy baskets, which is something that the Lady Tigers are working on to improve for their next game..
The good news is that identifying these areas for improvement is the first step towards growth. The Lady Tigers can use this game as a learning experience and focus on addressing these issues in their upcoming practices and games. With their hard work, they confidently will bounce back better than ever on their next game which is on Friday, December 8th, against Darlington High School, at Darlington High School.

In the works of "Sisterhood", the lady tigers took on Loris high school on December 4th, finishing the game with a total of 42 points (Wilson), and 23 points (Loris).In the first quarter, the ladies scored 13 points, second quarter-12, third quarter, 7, and fourth quarter-10 points.
The game started off a bit slow, and the team had some turnovers, but the team quickly found their rhythm and picked up the pace as the game progressed. Zoey Miller contributed with 13 points. Alongside Zoey, Logan Murray had 12 points, Gabby White had 8, Leanissa Swinton with 6, and Ariana Johnson with 3 points, all playing crucial roles in the team's success. Rather it's scoring points, playing defense, or just being active, the team as a whole contributed to this great win.
Before halftime, the team had the head lead of 19 points, with a score of 21-2. It was pretty impressive to watch! Once the team had this lead, they set the tone for their opponent, letting them know that the gym was theirs.
Notably, Miller’s shooting skills were in plain sight as she made a total of 3 three-pointers, adding to the team's points.
Overall, the girls' basketball team demonstrated their determination, and ability to work together, securing their first win of the season. As Zoey Miller stated, “its great; you want to start the season with a win, and that's what we did.” But we have a lot more learning and growing to do as a team, but this is the start, and its only up from here.”

Gabby White, a Keisha Cole lover, a post player on the Lady Tiger Basketball Team. Gabby grew up in Florence, attending North Vista Elementary School, Briggs Elementary School, and Williams Middle School. She is the middle child of a small family of three siblings; her older sister being 25 and her younger brother being 8. Her mom, Dana White, works at a bank and her dad, Travis Charles, is a welder.
Being a senior, Gabby is still on the fence about her choices she will have to make after high school. She has thoughts on going to the military, more specifically, the navy. Her other option would be to play basketball in college. Coker University is one of Gabby's top picks, and she would study to become an athletic trainer.
Gabby's main position on the Girls Basketball team is post, but she feels that she plays her best as a small forward. With no interest in any other sports, Gabby puts her all into basketball with her saying ¨trust the process.
¨Gabby's grandma is the most significant in her life because she pushes Gabby to be mindful and never give up.

Introducing #15 from the Lady Tigers basketball team, Logan Murray. Logan is a high school freshman, here at Wilson High School. She was born on March 14th, 2008, right here in Florence South Carolina. Logan has attended a few different schools before getting into high school including Timrod, Lucy T. Davis, and Williams Middle School. Logan has one 12 year old brother, and her parents are Samantha and Walter Murray. Mrs. Murray is a real estate agent, and she has her own real estate firm. On the basketball team, Logan plays the small-forward position.
Logan is not just a basketball player; shes also into volleyball too! She’s been playing volleyball since her middle school years. Shes even interested in playing softball too. When it comes to basketball teams, USC, located in Columbia, South Carolina is her favorite team. USC’s previous player, A’ja Wilson is her favorite basketball player, who inspires her the most. On her basketball team, besides playing the small forward, she also enjoys playing the point guard position. When asked how Logan’s teammates would describe her, she stated “shy, but talks too much”.
Outside of sports, Logan enjoys to cook. Chicken is what she enjoys to cook the most. After the completion of high school, Logan is interested in attending LSU to continue her basketball profession. She also plans on following in her mothers footsteps, and becoming a real estate agent just like her mom.

Coach Frank Williams, a source of inspiration, uses basketball to teach vital life skills. His dedication to the sport and his players is what makes him unique. As the season progresses, his influence continues to shape his young athletes. His way of coaching can bring out the best even in the worst, which makes him one of the greatest coaches around. He was born right here in Florence, South Carolina, and has been coaching basketball for about 24 years. He attended Wilson High School and later Morris College, located in Sumter, South Carolina. Sports played a big role in his journey into coaching. Alongside basketball, he also has coached baseball. Outside of coaching, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his 19-year-old son.
Being a coach was not his initial career path; the military was. Coach Frank's coaching style is described to be as tough and meaningful. He believes in teaching life skills that can be applied beyond the basketball court. To motivate his team, he uses snacks as a bribe! His expectations for the upcoming season are high, and he wants his team to stay consistent, communicate well, and work hard. He's focused on building on last year's progress through weight training and team bonding activities. He stated that the way that the last season ended, he was not disappointed, however, it was the start of a new error, and how Wilson's girls basketball team is going to be. Their off-season focuses were to get bigger and to get faster.
When asked about which team he is most worried about in the region, Coach Frank confidently replied, "the question should be what team should be worried about us!" One thing that coach Williams always wanted to be was a fire fighter. With his dedication and passion, Coach Frank is sure to lead his team to great accomplishments this (2023-2024) basketball season.

The Lady tigers are excited and ready for the fast approaching basketball season. Assistant Coach, Daisha Jefferson, returning players Zoey Miller & Leah Spears, and newcomer to the team, Ariana Johnson were asked questions about their upcoming season. All three ladies: Zoey, Leah, and Ariana felt that this season is going to be their season to turn it up a notch, and dominate all teams that they come across. Assistant coach, Daisha Jefferson stated that one of the team’s biggest goals for this season is winning the state championship. She states that defense, and preparing mentally and physically is one of their biggest off season focuses. Alongside being prepared mentally and physically to advance, the team has gained a couple of newcomers to the team that can contribute to the team’s success.
One of the greatest assets from the 2022-2023 last year's basketball season was Janiya Swinton, who graduated last school year (2022-2023). With her graduating, the team has been putting in the work, focusing on their ball handling skills to bounce back better than ever. Defense will be the team’s main focus. As head coach, Frank Williams always says, “defense wins ball games!" Their dedication and hard work are present as they prepare to take on the competition. With their strong defensive mindset, they are ready to face any challenge that comes their way.
This basketball season, the Lady Tigers goal is to advance as far as possible in the 2023-2024 basketball season. Through their motto Sisterhood, the lady tigers will come together as one and beat all of the odds!
